STUDY ABROAD IN ITALY Winter intersession January 2-16, 2016

Join Director Cynthia Nourse Thompson and faculty member Gail Deery for a two week intensive 3 credit course in Florence, Italy. Offered last year, the class was so successful that another course is being offered this January! SRISA has incredible printmaking, book art and photography studios. The University of the Arts students will spend two weeks living and making art in Florence, Italy at the prestigious Santa Reparata International School of Art studios in the heart of downtown Florence. Students will learn several bookbinding methods, photographic processes, and printmaking techniques in order to make artist books of their own concept and design. Content for the books will be derived from the photographic images and drawings made while in Italy experiencing the art, architecture, landscape, history, and culture. This study abroad course includes two day trips providing students the occasion to see the Tuscan hill towns and further explore Italy. Florence’s rich artistic history and world-renowned museums of art make for a dynamic and engaging backdrop in which to learn and create art. Additionally, the holidays are an amazing time to experience Italy and study!

The fee for the trip includes airfare, apartment lodging for 2 weeks, 2 excursions, and 3 group meals— an amazing deal! For more information please contact Director Cynthia Nourse Thompson cythompson@uarts.edu
